After a long period of illusiveness we have finally found a photo and information relating to Tom Thorn.
Tom was “batman” to Sir John Black at Longfield before the last war, and then served 5 and a half years years in the Royal Navy. After the war he rejoined Sir John Black and eventually moved to the factory in 1954, when Black was ousted in a Director coup. Tom was then in charge of the Directors’ Dining Room at Canley for many years
He was well known to Company directors and VIP visitors.
Tom Thorne, passed away in July 1971, aged 60.
