To meet the demand for Standard Cars, an intensive reconstruction programme is being carried out in certain departments throughout the Standard factories.
Work is in progress on a huge covered way through which the over-head conveyor system will pass into the new shop, for feeding the assembly lines from the various component stores, including completed car bodies.
Another item in the reconstruction programme is this private road which is being specially built to link the ex-shadow factory at Fletchamstead (subsequently Service, Spares and Sales headquarters) with the car assembly plant at Canley.
