Cyril West

I started at the Standard in 1959, I spent 10 years in the paint shop, the first few years on the sound deadening then masking and spirit white on the side track.

I moved to the Final Finish about 1969, first of all I was in the Waxing Department on the car park by the railway track then we moved in to 12 bay, I worked in there until I left in 1980. The date I started was 1st April 1959 and the first person I spoke to was Johnny Haywood, on the day I went to pick up my P45 (in 1980) I bumped into Johnny Haywood again and we walked out of the gate together for the last time.
